Ingredients
Scale
For the Ham:
- 1 bone-in ham (5–7 pounds)
- 1 cup fresh orange juice
- 1/2 cup pure honey
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
For the Glaze:
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
Instructions
- 1. Preheat Your Oven: Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). Line a roasting pan with aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
- 2. Prepare Your Ham: Place the ham in the roasting pan, cut side down. Score shallow diamond shapes into the surface of the ham.
- 3. Make Your Glaze: In a mixing bowl, whisk together orange juice, honey, brown sugar, cayenne pepper, ground ginger, and garlic powder until smooth.
- 4. Glaze It Up: Generously brush half of the glaze over the ham. Reserve the remaining glaze for basting.
- 5. Bake Away: Cover loosely with foil and bake for about two hours. Baste every thirty minutes with remaining glaze to achieve a sticky exterior.
- 6. Carve and Serve: Once cooked (internal temperature should reach at least 140°F/60°C), let the ham rest for fifteen minutes before carving. Drizzle with any leftover glaze before serving.
