Ingredients
Scale
For the Beef:
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
For the Sauce:
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp sesame oil
For Serving:
- 2 cups cooked jasmine or brown rice
- Sliced green onions (optional for garnish)
- Sesame seeds (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- 1. Brown the Beef
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned (about 5-7 minutes), breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain excess fat if needed.
- 2. Add Aromatics
- Add chopped garlic and grated ginger to the skillet. Sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- 3. Make the Sauce
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, and sesame oil. Pour this mixture over the beef in the skillet and stir well to coat everything evenly.
- 4. Simmer
- Reduce heat to medium-low and let everything simmer together for about 3-5 minutes to meld flavors.
- 5. Prepare Your Bowls
- While waiting for the beef mixture to simmer, prepare bowls by placing cooked rice as your base. Top each bowl with generous portions of seasoned beef.
- 6. Garnish and Serve
- Garnish your bowls with sliced green onions or sesame seeds if desired. Serve hot!
