- 2 and 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup softened butter
- 2 teaspoons ground cardamom

- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
For the Topping:
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon water
Instructions
For the Dough:
- 1. Warm the milk until slightly hot (not boiling). Sprinkle in the yeast and sugar, letting it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- 2. Add melted butter, ground cardamom, and flour one cup at a time until a soft dough forms.
- 3. Knead on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- 4. Place in an oiled bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
For the Filling:
- 5. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle.
- 6. Spread softened butter over the dough. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle generously over the top.
For Shaping:
- 7. Roll up tightly from one end to another and cut into pieces about two inches thick; place cut side up in a greased baking dish.
For Baking:
- 8. Brush with an egg wash (egg mixed with water) for a golden finish.
- 9. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for around 20 minutes or until beautifully browned.
