Ingredients
Scale
For the Dough:
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups warm water (110°F/43°C)
- 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tbsp sea salt
- 2 tbsp fresh rosemary (or to taste)
Instructions
- 1. Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2. Mix the Dough: In a large bowl, mix all-purpose flour and sea salt. Create a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture along with olive oil. Stir until combined.
- 3. Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4. First Rise: Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot for about an hour or until doubled in size.
- 5. Shape & Second Rise: Gently punch down the risen dough, transfer it onto an oiled baking sheet, and stretch into an even rectangle or circle. Cover again and let rise for another 20-30 minutes.
- 6. Preheat & Bake: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Dimple the surface of your dough with fingers, drizzle more olive oil on top along with fresh rosemary and sea salt before baking for about 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- 7. Serve: Enjoy slices of focaccia dipped in olive oil or topped with your favorite spreads.
