Description

Warm up your chilly evenings with this delightful homemade apple cider, bursting with sweet and spicy flavors that bring the comfort of autumn right to your cup.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Cider:

  • 6 Fresh Apples (mix of Granny Smith and Honeycrisp)
  • 3 Cinnamon Sticks
  • 5 Whole Cloves
  • 1 tsp Nutmeg (freshly grated)
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 10 cups Water

Instructions

For the Cider:

  1. 1. Prepare Your Apples: Wash and quarter the apples (there's no need to peel).
  2. 2. Combine Ingredients: In a large pot, add quartered apples, water, cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, nutmeg, and sugar.
  3. 3. Simmer Away: Bring the mixture to a boil on medium-high heat, then reduce to low heat and let simmer for at least 2 hours.
  4. 4. Mash It Up: After simmering, gently mash the apples with a potato masher or wooden spoon to release more juice.
  5. 5. Strain the Cider: Using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth, strain out solids from the liquid until smooth.
  6. 6. Serve Warm: Pour the fresh cider into mugs and enjoy immediately. Optionally garnish each cup with an extra cinnamon stick.
