For the Lasagna:
- 12 lasagna noodles
- 2 cups whole milk ricotta cheese
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 4 cups marinara sauce
- 1 lb ground beef or turkey
- 1 large egg
For Seasoning:
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 2 tbsp fresh basil, chopped
- 2 tbsp fresh oregano, chopped
Instructions
- 1. Preheat Your Oven
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- 2. Cook Your Noodles
- In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and lay flat on parchment paper.
- 3. Brown the Meat
- In a skillet over medium heat, sauté ground beef or turkey until browned. Drain excess fat and stir in marinara sauce along with fresh herbs. Simmer for a few minutes.
- 4. Mix Ricotta Mixture
- In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, beaten egg, salt, pepper, and half of the mozzarella cheese. Mix until smooth.
- 5. Layer It Up
- Spread some marinara sauce on the bottom of a baking dish. Layer noodles, half of the ricotta mixture, and half of the meat sauce. Repeat these layers until all ingredients are used up—finish with noodles topped with remaining marinara and mozzarella.
- 6. Bake It Off
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for about 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
- 7. Serve
- Let it rest for 15 minutes before slicing and serving.
