For the Pasta:
- 8 oz penne or fusilli pasta
For the Sauce Mixture:
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
For the Topping:
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil or spinach for garnish
Instructions
For the Pasta:
- 1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- 2. In a large pot, boil water and cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
For the Sauce Mixture:
- 3. In a bowl, combine marinara sauce, ricotta cheese, salt, and pepper until smooth.
For Assembly:
- 4. Add the cooked pasta to the sauce mixture. Stir in half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.
- 5. Transfer the mixture into a greased baking dish. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan on top, then add fresh basil or spinach.
- 6. Cover with aluminum foil (avoiding contact with cheese) and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 10-15 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
- 7. Let it rest for a few minutes before serving hot for maximum flavor enjoyment.
